Spring has Sprung - I hope...

This weekend the weather was beautiful and I was itching to get my hands dirty in the yard. As it turns out, Home Depot was super helpful and had all the plants I needed for my garden half off - so it was meant to be.

I started out with this mess...

Goodbye Winter Debris!

I hoe'd the dirt up to get it loose...
I used a 50/50 mixture of these to add some fresh nutrients to my soil.

Mukluk enjoyed the cool morning air as I slaved away...

Garden bed is all ready for some plants!

I played around with different plant configurations, but ultimately settled on this.

Still considering my options

Committed - planted them - but left out the basil and cucumber for now.

In the garden: Red lettuce

In the garden: 4 types of tomatoes
In the garden: 4 types of Bell peppers
The completed garden bed. (minus the basil and cucumber)

Then I moved on to the front yard... this is after weeding (for hours) and laying down some mulch

It looks so pretty!!!
So although it was an exhausting weekend - I'm very proud of all I accomplished. Bring on Summer!

A few classroom changes...

Every once in a while I get antsy and feel the need to clean out my room. For the past few months I've been watching as paper clutter mounts. Now, for those of you  who know me in real life - my version of paper clutter and other people's versions of clutter might be drastically different. However, mess stresses me out, and with the end of the year fast approaching, I thought it was time to take charge.

My spring clean up was inspired by this pin.

I pillaged our school library for some empty magazine files and managed to find some fairly cute ones that were not in super bad shape. I used clips to hold them together and slapped some labels on those puppies.
So pretty!!!
Then, after a lot of paper sorting, recycling and purging... I now have this! :) Granted, I still need to replace the sign on the unfinished proficiencies file box, but I'm happy with the progress. You can now see the top of my desk!
Yay! I'm all organized!
