So now I have finished the 3rd week of school, and we're settling into a groove. Last weekend I was un-organized during the week and brought home a TON of grading to do. All of this monopolized my weekend and left me feeling very depressed. This week I pulled it together, and, thanks to a late friday afternoon meeting, managed to get all my grading done, and posted online before I came home.
That meant that today, I could focus on all that I had been neglecting at home. The biggest thing that hadn't been getting done was cleaning. What! our sink is supposed to be white? So's our shower? and our toilet? Get out of town! Who knew.
Alright, so it wasn't quite that bad, but for my picky standards, it might as well have been. So I spent a productive few hours today doing a thorough cleaning of our home. This included picking up all the debris that seems to accumulate, dusting, mopping all the hard floors, scrubbing the bathroom top to bottom, and Herman even ran the vacuum. I feel so much more accomplished now. I can actually enjoy my weekend without feeling like I need to be doing something else
Well actually, I have a book unit to plan, but shhh... don't ruin my moment. This weekend there is a teacher appreciation community event in FG, so Herman and I will be making our way out there tomorrow afternoon.
Speaking of Herman, he is back to work and getting the hours he needs. He actually was sent on a trip to Lincoln City this week, (luckily my busiest two days of this week thanks to back to school night, so I didn't miss him too horribly much), and was placed on a crew he enjoys working for. He even took me out to dinner last night so I didn't have to cook in my exhausted state. What a man!
Well, I still need to pay the bills, cook for our company this weekend, and hopefully even get in a much needed nap. Until later!

Finally a chance to breathe

First week is over!
I survived the first week of teaching in my very own classroom! Administration popped in a couple times and made a point to tell me how impressed they were with my classroom management. Score 1 for me! Granted, Friday I felt like crap, and am coming down with a cold, but I'm glad to have the first week over with. Let me tell you, I was a bundle of nerves.
While I was busy in the classroom, Herman was busy looking for jobs (and watching lots of tv). He didn't work for most of this week, and is frustrated enough to start a job search in earnest. He applied for several good jobs, and hopefully one will pan out for him. He has been invaluable to me during this transition time. He has cooked, cleaned, helped me hang stuff in my classroom, move furniture, and generally supported whatever I needed. I couldn't ask for a better husband.
Now, back to bed for me.. I need to kick this cold's butt

Not much new to report. Started with my 8th grade kiddos today. Click this link if you want to see my classroom.
The first day went well, only a few kids that are already pushing it.
Will most more after tomorrow... I'm really tired. All the stress has caught up to me
In other news, Herman has not been called in to work for a couple days and is actively searching for a new job again.
