...and not so much of a good one.
Today started out with Herman discovering his truck had been broken into, and his work tools stolen. Thankfully the thieves popped a lock instead of smashing a window, so there is no damage to his truck. The cops were here for a bit, and we found out that there have been 3 breakins (or attempted break ins) in the past 2 days, yet for some reason the management of the complex hasn't posted any alert to their residents. The cop was took some stuff from the truck to try and lift prints, but we have almost no chance of getting his tools back becasuse we don't have their serial numbers written down. So we're rather irritated, but still thankful that it wasn't any worse than it was. Lesson learned? Keep a list of the serial numbers on everything!
As if that wasn't enough, later today, as we were out, we discovered (the hard way) that my car battery had decided to quit working. The first time it died was at the restaurant where we had eaten dinner, and we figured that perhaps the lights had been left on by accident. We got jumped by some good samaritans and drove around for 45 minutes to get it charged up again. We stopped at a bookstore, and when we tried to re-start the car, it wouldn't start. So we got jumped again, and headed out in search of a auto parts store. Thankfully we were able to find one still open, and $60 later, my car is the proud new recipient of a brand new battery.
Now we're home, and ready to crawl in bed and forget that today ever happened.
